ENP: Readjusting the relationship between Europa and it´s Eastern Neighbours

Events, like the Arab Spring on the one hand and setbacks in the progress towards democracy in Eastern Europe on the other, have shown that the EU does not at present have effective means available to support its neighbouring states in their efforts to establish democracy and the rule of law. The realignment of the neighbourhood policy is intended to remedy this deficit. This analysis presents the major features of the new approach, as well as its advantages and weaknesses.
