Russia - Khodorkovsky trial: New ruling, same old politically-motivated outcome

A court in Moscow today issued its ruling in the appeal case of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev. The Greens hit out at the ruling as politically-motivated and called on the EU to raise the issue at its forthcoming summit with Russia (10-11
June).

Review points right direction for neighbourhood policy but many questions remain

A review of the EU's Neighbourhood Policy was presented today by the European Commission and the EU's foreign policy high representative. The Greens have long called for a fundamental review of the ENP and welcomed the direction of the Commission's proposals but highlighted that many questions remain.

Chimki: Protect forest`s defenders from thugs!

EURONEST: Belarus has to wait for now

Commenting on today's constitutional meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership EURONEST, Green MEP Werner Schulz said, that it was the right decision not to invite parliamentarians that were chosen in unfair elections and that support a ruthless despot as President. As long as massive repression continues, Belarus should stay out of EURONEST.

New start for the civil society dialogue with Russia

On 28 March 2011, it finally happened: about sixty representatives from Russian and European non-governmental organizations, meeting in Prague, voted to found a civil society forum for the EU and Russia. A viable pilot project deserving of support, because our partner for as sustainable and successful cooperation ist Russian civil society.

Human rights court ruling a rebuke for electoral law in Russia

The European Court of Human Rights yesterday ruled that the dissolution of the Republican Party in Russia by the Russian justice ministry in 2007 was in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights. It underlines (1). A long overdue and important decision for fair elections in Russia.
